BLR Awarded 2022 Amazon Literary Partnership Grant

The Community of Literary Magazine and Presses (CLMP) today announced that Bellevue Literary Review is among the list of 19 recipients of the 2022 Amazon Literary Partnership Literary Magazine Fund grants, which are provided annually to literary magazines to support their work. Originally launched with CLMP in 2019, the Literary Magazine Fund furthers Amazon Literary Partnership’s role as a supporter of literary organizations nationwide and helps to build the readership of literary magazines.

CLMP, in cooperation with the Amazon Literary Partnership, convened a grantmaking panel that included authors Leah Hampton, Oscar Hokeah, and Jane Wong. Final award decisions were made by Amazon Literary Partnership in collaboration with CLMP.

“We are honored to receive the support of the Amazon Literary Partnership,” said BLR editor in chief Danielle Ofri. “This funding will help BLR continue to explore the connective tissue between illness, healing, and the arts through storytelling and poetry, as well as to bring our journal and events to new communities and audiences.”

“CLMP is extremely grateful to the Amazon Literary Partnership for providing support to literary magazines, which, like all publishers, continue to face the ongoing challenges of supply chain disruptions and rising production costs, but with fewer resources,” said CLMP Executive Director Mary Gannon. “Essential to the publishing ecosystem, literary magazines have shown resilience and innovation, fueled by their commitment to writers and the transformative power of literature. They deserve all the support they can get.”

“Since its inception in 2009, the mission of the Amazon Literary Partnership has been to support organizations that are vital to sustaining the literary culture of communities and to connect writers with their readers,” said Al Woodworth, Manager of the Amazon Literary Partnership. “There are so many vibrant literary magazines publishing today, and we’re thrilled to work with the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses on the Literary Magazine Fund to help fund this field. We thank CLMP and this year’s grant recipients for publishing such incredible work and sharing writers’ words with readers around the world.”
