BLR Writing Workshops

Bellevue Literary Review is excited to offer its writing workshop—Writing Illness onto the Page—to all who are interested in exploring the complexities of health, illness, and healing. Whether you’re a patient, a medical professional, a writer, a reader, or just a creative thinker, this generative workshop offers supportive spaces in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, inviting participants to transform personal or observed experiences onto the page.
In small-group workshops led by BLR editors, you will engage in guided exercises and generative prompts that encourage you to experiment with form and language. Workshop facilitators will lead discussions on craft and style, as well as on the practicalities of publication, with ample time for Q&A. You will have opportunities to share your work in a warm and encouraging atmosphere, and meet others who share your passion.

Whether you’re new to writing or looking to deepen your craft, Writing Illness onto the Page will help you find language for the body’s stories and discover the power of narrative in confronting and illuminating illness.

NOTE: The 2026 Writing Workshops sold out. Stay tuned for upcoming writing opportunities with BLR. (If you are not yet signed up for BLR’s newsletter, we invite you to do so here, and you’ll hear about all the events and opportunities.)
