Lesson 1

Getting Started

Welcome to the BLR Writing Studio. This first session is about beginning—showing up, setting an intention, and putting words on the page. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Bring a draft, a fragment, or just an idea you’ve been circling. We’ll start with a brief check-in, then move into focused writing time.

A simple tip: start smaller than you think. One paragraph, one image, one line of dialogue. Momentum builds quickly once you begin. If you get stuck, don’t stop—shift. Try a different angle, a new sentence, or even a list. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s presence and forward motion.
