Lila Dlaboha
You didn’t come to bed until morning
You opened and closed doors all night
while I slept in the ambient soot,
your keys jangled in the dark
The city glowed like scattered embers
in your wake. Clueless of your mischief
or heroics, yesterday you performed
the Heimlich Maneuver, saved a woman’s life
and walked away. If only you could sleep,
tread the ground as if it’s malleable
Something went tangent
pull the balloon down
